This is a CA test that tags and monitors circulating tumor cells (CTC) in the body. The Velox™ test can capture individual cancer cells that are within 2-30 microns in size. The problem with relying on current imaging systems is that they can only detect solid tumors of 1mm or greater in size. Ideally Velox™ is used for patients with metastatic (advanced stage) cancers:
- Breast
- Lung
- Ovarian
- Prostate
- Colorectal
- Kidney
- Melanoma
- Leukemia
- Pancreatic
A blood sample is drawn and used in a process that counts CTCs – with a 95% rate of accuaracy. Velox™ offers results within an hour, and is far more affordable than the more commonly used CA125 test, which takes up to 4 hours and only measure protein levels.
It is recommended that physicians administer the Velox™ test every 30 days. If the patient’s CTC levels are at 25 or more, it is suggested that a change in treatment is considered.
IV Diagnostics has a Provisional Patent on the Velox™ test.
